On Monday, August 1, 2022 the 3W Group (the Third Wave Group) celebrated its 25th anniversary, in a simple yet moving ceremony in its headquarters in Colombo 4. The 3W Group is a leading benchmark for ‘Transformation’ and ‘Enterprise Renewal’ consultancy and training services in South Asia and the MENA region. It all began at the turn of the millennium in 1997, when Stefan Moraes, a young and energetic individual with a splendid track record in the corporate and management consultancy field, decided to start his own Consulting Company. However, Stefan did not want to start a conventional consulting firm but something which was innovative and customer centred that warranted to be “the difference that make the difference’. This would be the first of many ventures. Stefan Moraes, deeply inspired by the 1980 best-selling book The Third Wave by American Futurist, Alvin Toffler, named his endeavour ‘Third Wave Consulting’. Later it was re-branded as simply ‘3W Consulting’. With Stefan at the helm, 3W rapidly grew to one of the leading consulting firms in the region. Over the past 25 years, 3W has facilitated from renowned Conglomerates, Blue-Chips, Industry Associations, UN and INGOs, SOEs to SMEs to move from ‘Good to Great to Grand’ through the pioneering services of Digital Transformation, Corporate Strategy, Service Transformation, Lean Transformation, HR Transformation, Leadership Capacity Building and training. Understanding the dire need of many Sri Lankans who intended seeking opportunities to pursue their studies overseas, Stefan inaugurated 3W Global Education (3WGE) in 2004, which mainly facilitates Global Educational Consulting partnering with over 1000 Universities in regions such as Oceania, Europe, Middle East, the Far East and the North America. This team building session was hosted with the objective of taking the organization to the new heights by empowering the management team.

The PETS & SETS 2022 - 23 Program, Organized by the Rotary Club of Kandy & the District 3220 - Sri Lanka & Maldives, was a residential Program for the Election of the Presidents & Secretaries, as required by RI in order to serve the Club. The event was held in Kandy; The Hotel Grand Kandyan, which commenced on the 25th of February from 3.30pm, continued on the 26th February which finally concluded on the 27th February; Sunday with the Graduation Ceremony. More than 100 Rotary club presidents & club secretaries attended this prestigious event from diverse parts of Sri Lanka. The Rotary Club of Kandy invited Mr Stefan Moraes; the Founder & Chief Architect of 3W Consulting for the Keynote Speech on the theme of Leadership & Motivation. The intention was to create an impact on the newly appointed leaders. In true 3W style, Mr Stefan Moraes and Mr Sithum De Silva converted the keynote speech into a Masterclass. The Leadership Program commenced with an energizer where the audience was asked to follow the leader in an exciting dance settling. The next segment of the programme addressed aspects of “Inside Out Leadership” where 3W consulting conducted a personality Assessment. The assessment results showcased the significance of understanding each other’s personalities, and subsequently cascaded into creating a growth mindset. The Leadership Message was to address challenges found in ‘Volunteerism/ Voluntary Leadership’ which required “Powers to Influence’’, rather than “Powers to Control”. The session was concluded with learning Behavior centered leadership principals. Team 3W Consulting ensured the Leadership Message was captured and addressed to the audience via various simulation activities, which also led to a much entertaining and engagement driven program. The day was indeed made remarkable and concluded with tremendous

The program is cascaded to 09 intensive modules which are designed around the needs of business leaders from all types of organizations.

3WC conducted a customized training program which was referred to “Building High Performing Teams” for IDL, a company emerged as one of Sri Lanka’s leading corporates while establishing themselves as a manufacturer and importer of quality spirits. IDL as an established liquor business and as the only hard liquor beverage manufacturer in Sri Lanka, launched the new financial year accompanied by the “Annual Conference” focusing on the sales and marketing employees. This conference was hosted with the objective of presenting new targets, discovering and reflecting on new methods which would facilitate and resolve the existing market challenges. Therefore, in order to boost and enhance the morale and motivation of their teams, this intervention with 3WC was required. 3WC was invited to completely drive the employees of the teams towards an optimistic path followed by an attitudinal and mindset changing training program. This training program with IDL was an OUTWARD BOUND session which incorporated specific learning modules, competencies and simulation activities to facilitate the learnings while boosting the energy and enthusiasm. This program was concluded with success.

3W Consulting very recently orchestrated a Management Development Program for the Senior Management Team of Bentota Beach as they were discovered with a need for one. As the hoteliers were undergoing a slight transformation in terms of infrastructural changes and refurbishment this requirement was quite significant in order to make a change. Therefore, the objectives for the team management and development facilitation were, to enhance team leadership skills and shared responsibility among employees while motivating them to acknowledge and accept their potential capacity as team leaders and team players. This was also an opportunity to tap and build on the trust among team members and enhance collective decision making. The above competencies and learnings created a bigger impact and effect on the employees as these modules were captured and highlighted through the incorporation of interesting simulations and activities as well. 3WC also introduced the Harrison Talent Assessment among the participants which is a psychometric test that intends to analyze ones personality traits, strengths, weaknesses and job success criteria. Once the assessment was completed, 1:1 interpretations were conducted by Stefan Moraes, the founder of 3W Group who is the only individual provided with accreditation to Harrison Assessments throughout the island.
